Since it was established, the aim and tasks of the Cultural Center "Laza Kostić " was to provide conditions for comprehensive development of culture and artistic creativity. Cultural Center is engaged in organizing art programs, literary and musical-stage program of amateur artists and has a publishing department. Main goal of each program segment is for striking the balance between elite achievement in a particular area of cultural creativity and supposed needs of audience in Sombor and its immediate area.
CC "Laza Kostić " organized concerts for many extraordinary artists such as Jovan Kolundžija, Ivan Tasovac, Tatjana Olujić, Marina Arsenijević, Branka Parlić, Carl Ponten, Jana Rise Phillips, Slavka Nikolić, Gala concert for Ballet Stars etc. In the literary events held as book promotions academician Nikola Milošević, academician Matija Bećković, Svetlana Velmar-Janković, Dobrica Erić etc. As a part of publishing activities, the Cultural Center issued a books by Mika Nastasić, Mihajlo Milošević, Vidosava Raič, Ksenija Đorđević, as well as the monograph "Sombor -an Illustrated Chronicle" by Mile Vojnović etc.
