Sombor got the Fiacre Service Regulations back in 1885. It was a valid document for the members of the Fiacre Drivers Association and their customers. Since the fiacre place in the Republic Square could place 24 fiacres, 24 hackberry trees were planted there so that each could have its own shade under the tree.
Even today when someone takes a fiacre ride it attracts attention of passers-by and it seems as if they are followed by the famous melody:
"Fijaker stari ulicama luta.."
"An old fiacre is roaming through the streets"
